Written and edited by our Canyoneers and published by Sunbelt Publications, this book is much more than your typical hiking guide—it encourages readers to stop, look, listen, touch, smell, and examine to understand that everything is connected in nature, much like being on a nature walk with a Canyoneer.

“Whether you are a San Diego resident or visitor, Coast to Cactus should be your hiking bible. This is the most complete guidebook yet to trails in the San Diego region…”

— Annette McGivney, Southwest Editor, Backpacker Magazine

Detailing more than 250 trails in the region, Coast to Cactus: The Canyoneer Trail Guide to San Diego Outdoors provides an unprecedented level of information about the flora and fauna in San Diego County. The book is also intended to be an extension of our permanent exhibition, Coast to Cactus in Southern California, in that they both highlight the rich biodiversity that exists in our local habitats.

The book was made possible through the passion of many devoted volunteers, collaboration with numerous regional agencies, and also through generous support from Subaru of America, official corporate sponsor of the book and this year’s Canyoneer hiking season.
