The San Diego Natural History Museum (theNAT) is offering Girl Scout Workshops on Saturdays. This year-round program gives girl scouts the ability to explore the Museum and gain a better understanding of the natural world. Please note, workshops run from 10 AM to 12:30 PM, and badges are not provided.
Fee: $20 per student and includes workshop, general admission, and all films.
Group size: Minimum of eight scouts per program, and a maximum of 24. We encourage partnering with other groups.
Chaperones: We require a 1:8 chaperone to student ratio, but will allow up to a 1:3 ratio. Chaperones receive free general admission.
Reservations: We require Scout workshops to be booked at least one month in advance. Please call 619.255.0349 to make your reservation.
Brownies will explore the world of bugs and learn more about small creatures that make a big difference in the biodiversity of our region. Docents will lead Brownies through the world of incredible insects, taking a close look at the difference between bugs, beetles, spiders, and insects. The group will tour the Museum exhibitions to observe live insects and finish the workshop with an edible art project.
Southern California has an abundant diversity of plant and animal life. Docents will take Juniors on a tour of Coast to Cactus in Southern California, one of the Museum’s permanent exhibitions, which explains how animals have adapted to the diverse ecosystems of the region. Scouts will explore the exhibition’s specimens, immersive environments, hands-on exhibits, live animals, and innovative media to learn about how they can help protect animal habitats.
