In December 2003 the San Diego Natural History Museum, in collaboration with the Irvine Museum, premiered its new exhibition, Plant Portraits: The California Legacy of A.R. Valentien.

One of three beautiful Valentien silk scarvesThis exhibition displays 80 stunning watercolor paintings of California plants painted in the early 1900s by Albert R. Valentien. Although the exhibition closed in San Diego in September 2004, it is now touring other venues.
