A home or vacation property is a gift you may live in
The gift of a home or vacation property allows you to have full use of the property for the rest of your life. There is a charitable deduction for you even though the San Diego Natural History Museum will not receive the value of the gift for many years. By reserving a "life estate" on the property deed you are making the rare kind of major gift where nothing seems to change for you. You may continue to live in the home for the rest of your life. A home or vacation property as a bequest Many times our children have families of their own or do not live nearby. Their job or the business they own do not make it practical for them to ever come back and live in the old family home. Sometimes children become more financially affluent than their parents and do not have a need for the house or the money from its sale. Others of us do not have children and we are not close enough to any relatives to leave them such an important gift. To the San Diego Natural History Museum the gift of a home or vacation property would be an extraordinary gift that would significantly enhance the future outreach of the Museum. |
