Do members receive free admission to special ticketed exhibitions?

There is an additional charge for all special exhibitions. Members receive a significant discount on their tickets. For more information, call our Customer Service department at 619.255.0195

Is the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center or the Birch Aquarium included in my ASTC Passport Program (available at the Family/Grandparent membership and above)?

No, cards are NOT honored at institutions within 90 miles of the institution where the membership was purchased. Cards are also not honored at institutions within 90 miles of the cardholder’s residence. (This is the policy of ASTC, not the San Diego Natural History Museum.)

Do you share my e-mail address or postal address with anyone?

Your e-mail address will never be traded or released to any outside organization. On occasion, we do share our mailing list with like-minded groups. If you prefer that we do not share your mailing address, please contact the Membership office at 619.255.0275.

How long does my membership last?

Memberships run from one year from the date that you purchased the card.

What are the benefits of becoming a museum member?

Join now and visit all year long—for free! It's a wonderful way to spend time with the family or entertain out-of-town guests. Plus, a membership pays for itself in just a couple of visits!


When should I receive my membership cards?

Cards and letters will be mailed to you within three weeks of your purchase.


Who can purchase a senior membership?

Persons who are 62 years of age and above qualify for senior membership. To purchase a dual senior membership, one person must be 62 or older.


Why don’t you give membership cards to children?

Children under 18 are included in their parents’ or grandparents’ memberships. They do not need a separate card.


Who is included in my family membership?

Two adults and children under the age of 18 living in the same household.


Who is included in my grandparents’ membership?

Two grandparents and grandchildren under the age of 18.


Why can’t I login as a member and access my benefits?

We recently upgraded to a new online program to better serve our members and guests. In order to access your benefits online and receive member discounts on programs and events, you will need to create an account with our new program. Just follow this simple process.

  1. Register here.
  2. Your email address will serve as your username.
  3. At the prompt, create a password for your account.
  4. It may take up to 48 hours to complete your registration process. Once confirmed, you will be able to access your member benefits online (read: receive member discounts on tickets, programs, and more).

I purchased tickets to an event, but didn’t get my member discount. How can I get a partial refund for the difference?

Call us the membership office at 619.255.0275 or the front desk at 619.232.3821 for a partial refund. Moving forward, please make sure you’ve registered with our new online program (see above). You can register here. It may take up to 48 hours for your registration to process. Next time you’re making a purchase, be sure you’ve signed in to your account so you will receive member pricing.
