Pompeii: The Last Day
Through June 15, 2008
30 minutes; Film schedule

Parental Advisory: This presentation includes graphic descriptions and brief depictions of the effects of the eruption of Vesuvius on the human body. It may not be suitable for young children.

See a selection of the thought-provoking program produced by the BBC and aired in the U.S. on the Discovery Channel. With the help of eyewitness accounts, dramatic reenactments, expert investigations, and incredible computer-generated images, follow a cast of Pompeians–among them gladiators, soldiers, slaves and ordinary families–as they wake to the absolute horror of the early-morning eruption in 79 CE. Drawing from the abundance of buried evidence, watch experts reconstruct the lives of people who lived in Pompeii and discover the spectacle of one of ancient history's most dramatic disasters through the eyes of the people who lived through a volcanic eruption so immense, it buried an entire city.
