Our half-day camps are designed to teach and inspire children from Pre-K through grade 5 , about the natural world. Through hands-on activities, exhibition tours, garden walks in the Park, and visits from Museum scientists, our campers experience just how amazing nature is.
Campers will have the opportunity to experience our newest exhibitions, DINO JAWS (opening April 12) and Mammoths and Mastodons: Titans of Ice Age (opening July 4).
We continue with our Spanish-language camps with Reptiles maravillosos (Remarkable Reptiles) for Grades 1–2 and ¡Rocas locas! (Rock On!) for Grades 3–5.
Each camp is created to encourage learning through creativity, imagination, and fun. We are passionate about teaching children about our natural world and our history with specific attention dedicated to the diversity and beauty of our own region.
Half-day summer camps run in the morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday, and can be combined with camps offered by participating Balboa Park institutions for a full-day experience.
Camps begin the week of June 10 and run through the week of August 19. The most popular camps will sell out, so register early to guarantee your spot! Please note that camps are not in session the week of July 1–5.
Our camps are structured by grade level. Children in Preschool–Kindergarten classes should be ages 4, 5, and/or entering Kindergarten. Children in classes for grades 1–5 should enroll in camps based on their grade level as of September 2013. To ensure a high-quality experience, it is important that all participants are with their same-age peers.
Fun and safety are our Number One priorities. . Campers are expected to show respect for their fellow campers, instructors, staff, the Museum, and the environment. Disruptive behavior and physical aggression are not permitted. If a problem persists, campers may be removed from the program with no refund. We want everyone to make friends and memories that last a lifetime! theNAT is looking forward to sharing the wonders of the world with your child.
Do you know a teenager age 16 or older who would like to earn community service hours in a fun environment working with children? We are now accepting applications for summer camp volunteers.
