Internships for High School Students

Through relationships with local high schools, unpaid internships in some science departments are available for students in their junior or senior year of high school. Internships vary in length depending on the school requirements. Interns work with the science staff on a variety of projects. Training and guidance are provided. An interest in science and natural history is required. Patience, dexterity, attention to detail, penchant for perfection and a tolerance for dust and dirt are needed. To apply complete the intern application. Include the name of the school you are attending and two teacher references.

Internships for College Students

Students enrolled in programs in biology, ecology, geology, and other life and earth sciences may be eligible for an unpaid internship in one of the science departments. Internships for course credit require a formal agreement with the school. Please complete the intern application to apply. Include the name of the school you are attending and your college major. 

Exhibits Internship (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)

See Employment for listing of a paid internship in the Exhibits Department. Available for junior level and above students who are interested in working with a top-notch exhibits team. An interest in science education, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and excellent written communication skills are required. To apply complete the intenship application.
