Viola pedunculata

Viola pedunculata or Johnny Jump-Up or Yellow Violet is a small violet of open, grassy hillsides, chaparral, and oak woodlands. The petals of the flower are yellow with brownish red veining. Violets are members of the Violaceae, or violet family. Comstock's Fritillary butterflies use this species as a host plant.
