It never fails that the final day of driving changes the mentality of
everyone. Suddenly "go home" mode kicks in and the world back home rushes in. We had stopped in Cataviña, to camp the night before and we didn't have far to go. We stopped in Ensenada to drop off research
specimens in CICESE and UABC. In the days and weeks to come, we
continue to work on the specimens as they are further inventoried,
prepared, and readied for deposition into collections in both Mexico
and the United States. In order to avoid a long Sunday border wait, we
decided to go through the Tecate border crossing. With the final leg of
our trip complete, we parted ways, and each headed for home. With that,
the 2003 Binational Multidisciplinary Expedition came to a close.
