 Roadway
construction projects (both new construction and improvements
to existing roadways) result in large-scale excavations. In
many cases the excavations temporarily expose ancient sedimentary
rock units and their contained paleontological resources.  Because
of the linear nature of roadway construction, the excavations
often provide a broader view of the geological and paleontological
record of an area. The linear nature of such projects also
involves challenging construction situations, which PaleoServices
staff have developed the know-how to work with.
As a measure of this experience, PaleoServices has provided
paleontological consulting services to Caltrans (District
11) on an on-call basis since 1991. |
