Whaler's log :: A whale of a day! Breaching, tail-slapping humpbacks, and spouting blues in every direction

What could be the best trip of the summer started with a blue sky and swells which rocked the boat to the enjoyment of several young boys on board.  We had a whale of a day, seeing breaching and tail-slapping humpbacks, and many spouting blues in every direction, with one displaying its tail fluke. In the afternoon, we circled Los Coronados where a passenger exclaimed, "There's something new to see everywhere you look!"  We saw many sea lions, a few harbor seals, and continuing to Bird Rock, enjoyed watching brown boobies as well as a few oyster catchers.

On the way home we encountered a small pod of common dolphins, some with their babies, accompanied by a few white-sided dolphins, ending what must be one of the best blue whale trips of the season.

The passengers were unanimous in feeling that they had an incredible day on the water with fantastic sightings.
